Blue Ocean Direct Primary Care is a Direct Primary Care practice serving families in Hendersonville, Gallatin, Goodlettsville, Sumner County, and surrounding Middle Tennessee communities.
Led by Dr. Kent Lofley, Blue Ocean provides comprehensive, relationship-based family medicine through a simple membership model. By working directly with patients rather than billing insurance for care provided in the office, we are able to maintain a smaller patient panel, offer longer appointments, and give patients greater access to their physician.
The result is primary care with more time to listen, more opportunities to prevent problems before they become serious, and a physician who can truly get to know you and your family.

Blue Ocean Direct Primary Care was built around a simple belief: the relationship between a physician and patient should be at the center of healthcare.
In a traditional insurance-based primary care model, physicians may be responsible for thousands of patients. Appointments become shorter, schedules become busier, and both patients and physicians can feel the pressure of a system built around volume.
Direct Primary Care offers another way.
At Blue Ocean, we intentionally care for a smaller group of patients so we can give each person more time and attention. Members have access to longer appointments, same- or next-day visits when needed, and direct communication with their physician for appropriate medical questions and concerns.
And because we practice comprehensive family medicine, many of the things that might otherwise require another appointment or referral can be handled right here in our office.

As a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO), Dr. Kent Lofley’s approach considers the whole person rather than focusing solely on an individual symptom or diagnosis.
That means taking time to understand the physical, emotional, environmental, and lifestyle factors that may be affecting a patient’s health and considering both conventional and complementary approaches when appropriate.
Dr. Lofley also actively practices Osteopathic Manipulative Treatment (OMT), a hands-on approach used to evaluate and treat problems involving the body’s muscles, joints, and other structures.
This combination of comprehensive family medicine, Osteopathic training, and Direct Primary Care allows Blue Ocean to provide a highly personal approach to healthcare.

Our name comes from the idea of a Blue Ocean Strategy—creating a new path instead of competing within the limitations of an existing system.

Dr. Kent Lofley has practiced medicine since 2010 and founded Blue Ocean Direct Primary Care around a more personal approach to primary care. As a DO, he combines comprehensive family medicine with whole-person care and active board certification in Osteopathic Manipulative Treatment.

As CEO of Blue Ocean Direct Primary Care, Tara helps guide the vision, strategy, and growth of the practice. Her work is centered on building a healthcare model that gives patients greater freedom, transparency, and access to care while supporting Blue Ocean’s mission of putting people and relationships first.
McKayla
Clinical & Patient Experience
McKayla helps create a welcoming, personal experience for patients from the moment they connect with Blue Ocean. In addition to supporting the day-to-day patient experience, she assists with clinical care and serves as Blue Ocean’s phlebotomist, performing blood draws and helping patients throughout their visits.
Her role bridges the front office and clinical sides of the practice, helping make each patient's experience as smooth, comfortable, and personal as possible.
